In partnership with Squadron Officer School, Airmen of the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing had the opportunity to participate in scenarios that tested their interpersonal skills.
“We wanted to establish a foundation of experience and leadership in our Airmen before they have real world experiences,” said Chief Master Sgt. Toraino Hodges, 386th Expeditionary Mission Support Group superintendent. “We want to have the opportunity to give them feedback on how to do it correctly so they can give their most to their Airmen.”
“The feedback we were getting from our students and our community partners was that more experience in classroom management would be helpful,” Scribner-MacLean says. “With Mursion, our students can make mistakes and get feedback before they interact with real students. Now, when they go out into the field and do their first lesson, I see more confidence and fewer rookie mistakes.”
During a recent class, five pairs of students presented different lesson plans to the avatars, with varying degrees of success. Each pair presented their lesson for five minutes, then took five minutes to reflect on the experience and listen to comments from their classmates and Scribner-MacLean.

Mursion is dedicated to the art of practice and we believe that it is the only way to master new professional skills. That is why I found Patti Smith's heart-felt and poignant note in the New Yorker about her "humiliating...failure" at the Nobel banquet honoring Bob Dylan and other laureates so thought-provoking.
Deciding on a song she had sung for decades, Mr. Dylan's "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall", she prepared for days in advance of her performance, rehearsing with the full orchestra and on her own backstage. Yet after just one verse, she was so "struck with a plethora of emotions, avalanching with such intensity" that she was unable to effectively perform...
